PIGSAR

(Package for Integrative Gene Set Analysis in R)

GMU

Project Description

The most common method of performing Gene Set Analysis (GSA) for miRNAs is to find the miRNA targets and then performing GSA for such targets, while GSA of lncRNAs is mainly based on studying correlations between lncRNAs and mRNAs.

Current databases of ncRNA interactions depict a landscape of multiple biological entities (mRNAs, miRNAs, lncRNAs, circRNAs, sncRNAs, RNA-binding proteins, and others) interacting with each other in complex networks, which makes us think that network-based methods applied to integrative correlation networks of RNAs and RBPs become an interesting strategy for GSA.

PIGSAR is a project that aims to build an R package to perform such an integrative GSA of coding and non-coding RNA data.
